Conveniently close to downtown and only 12 minutes from the airport,  the Aurora Bayside Inn is located in the unique and eclectic neighbourhood of Old Town.

Situated on a peninsula, surrounded by Great Slave Lake on three sides, Old Town has plenty to offer for those looking for art, water-recreation, food, shopping, culture and scenic lookouts.

There is plenty to do and see right outside the front door of the  Aurora Bayside Inn. Commercial fishing boats, artists, outdoor adventure providers, restaurants and the North’s oldest and best known General Store are all within walking distance of the Inn.

Old Town is the original Yellowknife settlement area – and home to still-standing cabins and shacks from the prospector days. Close to the shores are house boaters – known for their rugged individualism and non-conformist lifestyles.

The local Air Tindi float plane base is a 2 minute walk away – and viewing float planes in transit adds an interesting aspect to the neighbourhood ambience. You can watch the planes taking off and landing in both winter and summer.

Old town is also known for its rugged, rocky terrain, exemplified by “the rock”, a miniature mountain that provides an impressive panorama of the city.
